Story Time!
How many of you have traveled to Europe, Asia, or other parts of the world?
How many of you stayed in lodging where linens were provided?
How many of you expected that said linens would include a washcloth?
How many of you were dumbfounded when there was no washcloth?!?!?
In 1988, I traveled internationally for the first time (well, I’d been to Tijuana before, but we didn’t need a passport to go there). We went solely to my mother’s family’s homeland…Greece.
In Athens, we stayed in a decent hotel near the Acropolis. In fact, from our room’s window, we could see the Parthenon (or “Parthie Baby,” as we called it in our junior high humor…but I digress…and I kinda just gave away my age…ish).
Nevertheless, at this decent hotel near the Acropolis where we could see the Parthenon from our room…there were no washcloths.
So, I’m in junior high. I’ve never left the U.S.A. prior to this trip (except, of course, Tijuana). I’ve never not had a washcloth before. And now there are no washcloths.
And no shower curtains either, now that I think of it! Big problems, I know!
Self-Cleaning Wash Cloth
Fast forward to 2016. In preparation for “Operation: Always Have a Washcloth to Use When Traveling,” I found the LUNATEC Self-Cleaning Travel Washcloth.
The self-cleaning claim of Lunatec’s washcloths is interesting. I’m still going to wash ours after a trip!
The edge of the washcloth is hemmed and sewn securely, with a loop at one corner for hanging to dry.
Quick Drying
The most desirable feature of this travel washcloth is that it dries ever so quickly.
So, even in a humid climate, after an evening shower, the washcloth should be dry & ready to pack up in the morning.
Combined with a travel towel (microfiber towels), you’ll have a quick dry shower solution.
Light Exfoliation
We bought some (4 total for my family) & tested them out.
The texture is kinda like a mesh scrubby but in the shape of a washcloth. Older Daughter liked how, even using bar soap, there were lots of suds.
Because of the material that it’s made of, however, one needs to kind of wad it up (like into the shape of a mesh scrubby) for it to really be useful.
It doesn’t “work” like a regular washcloth.
Also, each person needs to consider whether or not the washcloth is usable for their more sensitive areas (such as…ahem…one’s face, etc.).
SBT Summary: Travel Washcloth Review
Overall, our family agreed that the LUNATEC Self-Cleaning Travel Washcloth will definitely be on our packing list for future travels to locations where washcloth availability is questionable.
Whether you’re visiting a dusty destination or a tropical rainforest, it’s one of the best travel washcloths out there!
And, it doesn’t take much room in your bags!

ALL GREAT SEMI-BUDGET TRAVEL
It's easy! I will show you how with a FREE trip planning tool.
This sounds like a great travel washcloth. Especially love the quick-drying feature! I hate traveling with wet “stuff”!
Hey thanks for the review. We don’t travel overseas but when we go see my parents in WV. We like to use our own wash cloths and soap. This will make it a little lighter on packing.
This sounds like a great alternative to my mesh scrubbiest which are always still wet. I’m going to have to buy one of these & try it!😄
Totally! Sounds like a good plan, Linda!
