Mario Plage Sainte Maxime
Looking for a private beach in France?
Look no further than Mario Plage in Sainte Maxime.
This hidden gem is in the charming town of Sainte Maxime and offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Whether you’re looking to relax on the sand or take a dip in the water, Mario Plage is perfect for those looking for a quiet and private beach getaway.
Where is Mario Plage located?
While there are many public beaches on Sainte-Maxime’s southeast facing coast, it’s east facing coast, at the mouth of the Gulf of Saint Tropez, is filled mostly with private beaches (plages privées, in French).
Mario Plage is the southmost private beach on Nartelle Beach (Plage de la Nartelle) in Sainte-Maxime, France.
From the central area of Sainte-Maxime, Mario Plage is approximately 3.9 km away, about a 6-minute drive.
In other words, if you’re staying in Sainte-Maxime, as we did, it’s a great location!
The address is: 33 Avenue du Général Touzet du Vigier, 83120 Sainte-Maxime, France
What services are available at Mario Plage Sainte Maxime?
Mario Plage really has it all, with a hotel, restaurant, and private beach club.
Hotel
With just 18 rooms, La Plage Hotel is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a quiet and intimate getaway.
The hotel offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
Just think of your hotel room being on the beachfront of La Nartelle Beach!
Room types include:
- Double room, ground floor, with terrace & sea view
- Twin room, ground floor, with terrace & sea view
- Double room, first floor, with balcony & panoramic sea view

Valet Parking
Valet parking is available on-site, for use of the restaurant and/or beach club.
There is no set fee, just whatever you’d like to tip the valet.
Restaurant
Mario Plage Restaurant is open year-round.
The menu features a variety of seafood and meat dishes, as well as a serious dessert menu.
The restaurant has a terrace with sea views, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal while taking in the stunning scenery.
Boasting a mixture of aromas and utilizing flavors of the land, restaurant Mario Plage can definitely tempt your taste buds.
Beach Club
The beach club (or private beach, or plage privée) is the reason we went to Mario Plage.
We wanted to experience the beach in the French Riviera (or Côte d’Azur), while fulfilling my need for shade (when I wasn’t swimming, of course!).
The private beach club at Mario Plage is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the famed southern coast of France.
I could have stared out at the water all day long.
But, after enjoying the surf for a while, I took a little nap on a beach lounger in the shade of one of our umbrellas, while my family continued to have a good time swimming and exploring.
Since Mario Plage is on the south end of Nartelle Beach, there is more than just sandy beach.
The sand turns into a bit of rocky coast and natural areas, which provides tide pool fun, as well as “hidden” coves the further south you go.
When is the Mario Plage beach club open?
Mario Plage Privée is open from mid-April until the end of October each year.
When is the best time to visit Mario Plage Sainte Maxime?
While the beach at Mario Plage is open from mid-April to late October, the high season is during July and August.
If you’re looking to avoid the crowds, September and October are great times to visit, as the weather is still warm, but the beach is less crowded.
Whenever you visit Mario Plage, be sure to reserve your beach chairs ahead of time!
How much does Mario Plage cost?
At the time of our visit, the cost for each beach chair and umbrella was €30.
For a beach lounger and umbrella on the “front line,” the cost was €35 each.
This fee includes access to the beach, sun loungers, parasols, and showers.
So, it’s cheaper than many places in California but still a little pricey for beach access.
Would I do it again? Yes! It was fantastic to have a spot reserved just for us, with built-in shade and a stunning beach and ocean view to enjoy.
Credit cards were accepted, so make sure you have a credit card that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees.
SBT Summary: Why go to a private beach like Mario Plage Sainte Maxime?
There are plenty of good reasons to visit Mario Plage Sainte Maxime.
For one thing, you can be more confident that the water and sand will be clean and well-maintained.
There’s no need to worry about overcrowding, either, as private beaches typically have far fewer visitors than public ones.
And, if you’re looking for a little extra luxury, Mario Plage offers amenities like beach loungers, beach umbrellas, and wait service.
Of course, all of this comes at a price – but it’s worth it if you want to enjoy a relaxing day by the water (and not have to bring your own shade with you).
So, why not treat yourself to a little bit of luxury next time you’re in the French Riviera?
Head to Mario Plage Sainte Maxime, and enjoy a relaxing day and spectacular views on the Côte d’Azur.
