Our Experience at Durango Hot Springs!
Before I get into all the details of the Durango Hot Springs Resort, let me share my personal experience with you.
The resort is nestled among towering ponderosa pines and mountains, and the grounds are immaculately landscaped.
The resort boasts multiple soaking pools, a large swimming pool, and even a rain tower (look for the clock!).
Since we visited as a family, we spent most of our time on the family side of the resort, which has many of the larger pools with a selection of fun smaller pools.
Each pool is labeled with its temperature, and once we had tried out a bunch of pools, we found our favorite and pretty much stayed there for there rest of our time.
Which pool was our favorite?
Dutch Creek, which was labeled 107°F when we visited, was our favorite of all the hot pools.
Dutch Creek is a series of pools that descend like stairs, each one being slightly cooler than the next.
My kids loved moving from one pool to another, and I settled in the second one from the top. I was pretty content just soaking in the warm water and taking in the breathtaking mountain views.
At the time of our visit, Durango Hot Springs Resort offered 2.5-hour soaking sessions.
We were there in October and chose 4:30 p.m. as our start time, so we could experience the hot springs in both daylight and evening hours.
When the sun goes down, Durango Hot Springs becomes even more magical with twinkling lights and live music.
As the lights came on, the rest of my family joined me in my choice soaking pool, and we just talked.
Yes…TALKED! Can you even believe it?!?!?
This was one of the major highlights of our entire trip: soaking in the hot springs, under the twinkling lights, just hanging out and talking as a family.

The latest multi-million-dollar extensive renovations by new owners has resulted in 32 pools, private soaking tubs, cold plunges, and stunning mountain views, ensuring a luxurious experience for its guests while honoring the historical significance of the site.

At Durango Hot Springs Resort, you can indulge in a wide range of facilities designed to provide the ultimate relaxation experience. The resort features a variety of pools, each catering to different preferences.
One of the key features of the resort is the mineral soaking pools. There are 32 soaking pools (19 family-friendly, 13 adult-only), each offering different water temperatures. Several are ADA-accessible.
These pools are perfect for releasing stress and soothing your muscles.
For a refreshing yet relaxing experience, you can take a dip in the resort-style swimming pool. This saltwater pool provides a luxurious environment for you to unwind and take a break from the hot springs.
If you’re interested in rejuvenating your body with a quick and invigorating experience, the two cold plunge pools are perfect for you.
For a more unique experience, you can try the reflexology walking path. Walking on this path stimulates pressure points on your feet.
Another standout feature is the mineral water rain tower. Keep your eye on the bucket if you’re standing nearby!
The hot springs facilities include well-equipped locker rooms for you to safely store your belongings and change into proper attire.
Towels are not included, however, so be prepared to BYOT (Bring Your Own Towel) or purchase one on-site.
Spa and Wellness Services
At the Durango Hot Springs Spa (open 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.), you’ll find a vast array of spa and wellness services designed to rejuvenate both your body and mind.
The highly skilled therapists offer various types of massages, including couples massage, relaxation massage, and therapeutic massage to cater to your specific needs.

In addition, two hours of soak time is included with all spa services 50 minutes or longer!

Also available by separate booking are the resort’s private cedar tubs. These Japanese-style Cedar Ofuro Tubs can be booked for an hour at a time.
